| Biomass Biomass can come in different forms and the most common that we use today are wood pellet, wood chip and wood gasification. They are classified as renewable energy and are used to fire boilers that have replaced the more traditional gas or oil fired.
The definition of Biomass is - biological material derived from living, or recently living organisims, such as wood waste and alcohol fuels and is a renewable energy source. Although fossil fuels have their origin in ancient biomass, they are not considered biomass by the generally accepted definition because they contain carbon that has been ''out'' of the carbon cycle for a very long time. Their combustion therefore disturbs the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere.
The definition of renewable energy is - energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, biomass and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished). In 2006, about 18% of global final energy consumption came from renewables, with 13% coming from traditional biomass such as wood burning.
The wood pellet and wood chip fuel and boiler industry has seen many changes over the past years, not only oin product changes but also in costs. Unfortunately when the industry was at its infancy in Ireland and England the market was flooded with poor quality fuels, boilers and unqualified installers which did not do the industry any good and left a trail of bad press and unsatisfied customers.
When Universal Solar became involved in the industry we decided to source a boiler of extreme reliability and the highest of standards. We achieved this with Gilles who is an Austrian company supplying one of the best boilers on the market. There is no doubt that this is definitely not the cheapest boiler, to the contrary and as many have found out to their misfortune, you have to pay for quality. After all you will only want to install such a system once. In saying that we have recently been involved in discussion with other manufacturers and have installed other makes depending on the exact project. No tow systems will be exact and there are many to take into consideration when deciding the correct boiler for the specific installation.
Bearing in mind the experience we have achieved in this field and product knowledge we have amassed over the years we are now in a position to advise our customers on the right boiler and system for their specific needs and as we are not tied into any particular manufacturer you can be assured of an unbiased recommendation and ''right for the job'' system at all times.
